I am sure if you’ve owned an RV for very many years you have experienced a blow-out on the road. One thing I see over and over again is people checking their tire pressure while out on the road and getting gas. You should always check and inflate your tires when the tires are cold. Hot air expands in the tire once you hit the open road giving you a false reading on your tire pressure. Tires should always be checked when cool – try checking them before pulling out of your driveway for your trip or once you are in the campground then adjust the air pressure before going far.

These are the lyrics to a song we all learned when we were growing up in Texas, but I never understood the importance of this line until last night. We visited the Star party at the Observatory and I have never seen so many stars in the sky. From Fort Davis, we headed up the mountain to the McDonald Observatory, home of the University of McDonald Texas Astronomy department and some of the largest telescopes in the world. Even without a telescope the stars are beautiful. We sat through a very cold Constellation show where we felt like we had a Birdseye view of the Milky Way. This interactive program was the beginning of our fun filled star gazing. Make sure you visit the observatory during the day and see the telescopes up close and learn all about the sun, moon and stars. We got the family pass that covered the daytime programs, twilight constellation show, entrance to the museum and observatory, some great lectures and, of course, the Star Party at night. Well worth every penny we spent. If you are ever in West Texas on a clear night, this is a must see event!
